Dr. José A. Santana
Distinguished entrepreneur with a 45-year business experience, Dr. José Santana founded Management Group Investors, LLC acquiring in 2016 all International Meal Company businesses in Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic; immediately empowering the rekindling of the affiliate companies’ operations. For over 20 years, Dr. Santana has successfully led Empresas Santana, a prominent Puerto Rican conglomerate, renowned for an enduring 65+-year leading presence in the Puerto Rican business landscape in areas, such as: aviation ground services, food service, commercial real estate, hotel administration, corporate meetings, social events, and casino management. In 2008 the conglomerate sold its airport operations to International Meal Company to focus on its hospitality endeavors. As of November 2015, Dr. Santana had boldly introduced two innovative hotel brands into the Puerto Rican hospitality scene: the environmentally friendly Wyndham Garden at Palmas del Mar and the chic urban-inspired TRYP by Wyndham Isla Verde.
José A. Algarín
Ingenious strategist and sagacious leader, José Algarín is a highly respected executive with a prolific 30-year professional career within the aviation, food service and tourism industries. Mr. Algarín establishes MGI’s goals, designs innovative strategies and encourages sound business investments, constantly raising the bar to progressively improve the overall performance of the business portfolio. Former Chief Mergers and Acquisitions Officer at International Meal Company (IMC) Global, Mr. Algarín managed a capital budget of approx. $200 million and swiftly commanded a robust expansion of IMC businesses in Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, México, Panama and United States. Prior to this assignment, he was CEO for IMC Caribbean and Central America operations. José Algarín has also been President of Empresas Santana, leading the conglomerate’s successful commercial diversification in the early 2000s. Mr. Algarín has been recognized by prestigious business associations in Puerto Rico with accolades, such as: 2006 Top Management Award - Association of Sales & Marketing Executives (SME) and 2007 Executive of the Year, awarded by both the SME and the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association.
Chief Administrative and Operations Officer
Executive of determined and intuitive leadership, Maricarmen Borges provides business forecasting insight to boost MGI’s business portfolio while improving the overall quality and financial efficiency of its operations. Mrs. Borges is a Certified Public Accountant with over twenty years of experience in the administration and finance fields, particularly focused on the food service, aviation and hospitality industries. Former Vice President of Aviation Operations as well as Senior Vice President of Empresas Santana, she had effectively overseen both, the conglomerate’s aviation ground support and hospitality operations in Puerto Rico. Mrs. Borges was recognized within the 2015 Caribbean Business Women to Watch for groundbreaking achievements; and twice this decade she has been honored as Executive of the Year – Service Sector (East Region) by the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association, in 2010 for her remarkable impact as Senior Vice President of Empresas Santana and in May 2017 due to outstanding overall business improvement results as MGI Officer.
Chief Operating Officer
Keen executive with over 20 years’ experience developing food and beverage operations, Enric Besalduch leads MGI’s day-to-day operations in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, executes business strategies to improve productivity and oversees all capital investment projects related to operations development and renovations. He began his successful career spearheading Elior’s© expansion opening 150 stores in Chile and Argentina, then went on to become Commercial Officer and Operations supervisor for Areas© Argentina. Mr. Besalduch joined International Meal Company where he became President of IMC Brazil and then appointed Chief Operating Officer Global Operations being responsible for launching over 300 new restaurants and overseeing more than 10,000 employees in North, Central and South America.
Chief Financial Officer
Executive with a vast financial background in hospitality, casino and food service operations, Heriberto Negrón develops strategies to achieve MGI's financial goals, executes capital-raising plans, oversees budgets and manages the conglomerate’s investment portfolio. Mr. Negrón began his professional career in the prestigious international consulting firm Deloitte & Touche LLP where he acquired financial expertise in various business sectors, such as: commercial banking, government, food and beverage, lodging and aviation services. Later he joined Empresas Santana as Principal Controller of Hospitality Operations, promoted to Director of Finance and then appointed Administrative Vice President.
